What to do if your one and a half year old baby has hernia

Children are most likely to get hernia when they are young, especially for babies over one year old. When babies get hernia, they will cry, so mothers are very anxious. In order to prevent the baby's hernia from becoming more serious, mothers must take the baby to treatment in time. If necessary, only surgery can be taken. So how to treat hernia in a one-year-old baby?

Hernia is a common developmental defect that usually heals itself before the age of one.

It is recommended that you observe for the time being. If the child has not recovered after one year old, you can consider surgical treatment. Before the operation, you need to be careful not to let your baby cry, and seek medical attention in time if you find your baby has a cold or cough. This is because any factor that increases the pressure in the abdominal cavity will cause the contents of the hernia to fall into the scrotum. Repeated attacks will increase the defect and reduce the possibility of self-healing. At the same time, the difficulty of the operation will increase accordingly. If incarceration occurs during the process (it cannot be put back up after falling down), timely surgery or manual reduction at the hospital is required.

If you find that your child has a hernia, don't let him cry. Check his body regularly and take timely measures if you find any abnormalities. It is necessary to seek medical attention promptly. Hernia: A mass formed when abdominal organs protrude from their normal position through holes or weak points in the abdominal wall. The contents of the hernia that protrudes out of the body are not gas, but mostly the small intestine and other internal organs. Sometimes they can disappear by pressing and lying flat, accompanied by varying degrees of sourness, swelling, and pain, and a few are painless.

Hernia is mostly caused by coughing, sneezing, excessive force, abdominal fat, forceful defecation, pregnancy in women, excessive crying in children, etc. In children, the squeezing of the hernia may affect the normal development of the testicles. The intestinal tract or omentum in the hernia sac is easily squeezed or collided, causing inflammatory swelling, making it difficult to reduce the hernia, leading to hernia incarceration, as well as dangerous situations such as intestinal obstruction, intestinal necrosis, and severe abdominal pain. Hernia treatment methods:

1. Conservative treatment Conservative treatment mainly includes two types of drug therapy and hernia belt therapy. Drug therapy can relieve symptoms such as abdominal distension, abdominal pain, constipation, etc. caused by hernia, thereby reducing the hernia; the disadvantage is that it cannot control hernia prolapse, let alone cure hernia.

Commonly used Chinese patent medicines include Hernia Neixiao Pills, Juhe Pills, Buzhong Yiqi Pills, etc.; or grind cinnamon into powder, mix it with vinegar, and wrap it with gauze to apply to the navel. Hernia belt therapy: It can quickly stop the bulging of the hernia, thereby effectively preventing the development of hernia and relieving symptoms such as abdominal distension, abdominal pain, and constipation caused by hernia. The disadvantages are that it is inconvenient to use and cannot cure hernia.

2. Radical treatment: There are four types of hernia repair: hernia repair, hernia patch repair, laparoscopic hernia repair and hernia medical glue injection anastomosis. Hernia repair: repair the hernia ring by stripping part of the external oblique muscle. Hernia patch repair: use a patch material instead of stripping part of the external oblique muscle to repair the hernia ring. Hernia laparoscopic repair: hernia repair or hernia patch repair is completed through laparoscopy. Hernia medical glue injection anastomosis: an anastomotic agent that is similar to and fully compatible with human tissue is directly injected into the hernia canal to close the hernia canal and the hernia ring, achieving the same effect as stripping part of the external oblique muscle to repair the hernia ring or using a patch material to repair the hernia ring.
