People are familiar with stethoscopes, which are used to diagnose diseases. Children's stethoscopes are specifically used to diagnose children's lung diseases. Traditional Chinese medicine emphasizes observation, smell, questioning and palpation, while Western medicine emphasizes observation, touch, percussion and auscultation when diagnosing diseases. There is a big difference between Chinese medicine and traditional Chinese medicine in diagnosing diseases. The stethoscope plays an important role in auscultation. It is mainly used to diagnose heart, lung and other diseases. Let us take a closer look at the stethoscope. The stethoscope is the most commonly used diagnostic tool for internal medicine, surgery, gynecology and pediatrics physicians. It is the symbol of a physician. Modern medicine began with the invention of the stethoscope. Since the stethoscope was first used in clinical practice on March 8, 1817, its appearance and sound transmission method have been continuously improved, but its basic structure has not changed much. It mainly consists of a sound pickup part (chest piece), a conduction part (hose) and a listening part (ear pieces). Size of stethoscope head The larger the contact surface between the stethoscope head and the body, the better the sound picked up. However, the human body has a curvature. If the chest piece is too large, the stethoscope head cannot completely contact the human body. Not only will the sound not be picked up well, but it will also leak out from the gap. Therefore, the size of the stethoscope head should be based on clinical needs. The diameter of the stethoscope chestpiece is almost uniformly between 45-50 mm. Special chestpieces such as pediatric chestpieces are generally 30 mm in diameter and 18 mm for neonates. Stethoscope material Materials play an important role in sound effects. Sound is transmitted through air or matter and eventually converted into heat energy and disappears. The transmission of sound waves has almost no attenuation in heavy metals, but is easily attenuated in lighter metals or plastics. Therefore, high-grade stethoscopes must use heavy metals such as stainless steel or even titanium. The conductive part of the stethoscope The sound transmission line is also very important. The larger the inner diameter of the tube, the shorter the length, and the thicker the tube wall, the better the effect of the stethoscope. The international standard length is 27 inches. The material of the sound transmission tube of a modern stethoscope is generally PVC, which has good sound quality and is beautiful, but has poor tensile strength and is prone to breakage after frequent bending and stretching. After use, the stethoscope should be hung flat on both sides of the neck. This can be seen in foreign TV dramas and is the standard way to wear a high-quality stethoscope. |
