Effects of Fengyoujing ingredients on babies

Fengyoujing is a must-have mosquito repellent product in summer. Applying it on the body and sweating can reduce the chance of being bitten by mosquitoes. At the same time, the smell can effectively disperse many mosquitoes, as well as achieve local analgesic and itching relief effects. However, due to the special ingredients of Fengyoujing, it may cause side effects to babies after use, so it is necessary to understand the ingredients of Fengyoujing.

1. Pregnant women are prohibited from using this product.

Camphor, the main ingredient of Fengyoujing, has a certain toxicity. When camphor enters the human body, glucose phosphate dehydrogenase will quickly combine with it to turn it into a non-toxic substance and excrete it from the body with urine. Due to physiological changes, the level of glucose phosphate dehydrogenase in pregnant women is reduced, especially in the first three months of pregnancy. If Fengyoujing is used too much, camphor will be absorbed into the body through the skin and then pass through the placental barrier into the amniotic cavity, acting on the fetus. In severe cases, it can cause fetal death and miscarriage.

2. Pregnant women and newborns are prohibited from using

Newborns also lack glucose phosphate dehydrogenase in their bodies. If mothers use a large amount of wind oil and camphor, the smell will penetrate into the blood through the delicate skin and mucous membranes of the newborn, causing the red blood cells to rupture and dissolve into bilirubin. Excessive bilirubin in the blood can also penetrate the meninges and combine with brain cells to cause jaundice in infants, resulting in symptoms such as yellowing of the whole body, blue lips, brown urine, sucking milk, weak crying, drowsiness, etc., as well as neurological symptoms such as convulsions and seizures. Even after treatment, the baby's brain function can be damaged. Similarly, it should be used with caution in children under three years old.

3. It is forbidden to use on patients with second degree burns (especially blisters that are prone to irritation and pain), skin injuries and ulcers.

4. Allergic reactions are occasionally seen. If rashes and itching occur after application on the skin, the product should be discontinued. If a person is allergic to the product and then applies it on the face, it may cause pigmentation and affect the appearance of the face.
