Things to note after the red and blue light treatment

Jaundice is a disease symptom that newborns often encounter. The baby cannot meet the parents in time after birth, and must undergo certain treatments to improve the symptoms of jaundice. Red and blue light are important treatments for jaundice. After irradiation, newborns can reduce the occurrence of jaundice. Then you can meet your parents and live together. So, what are the precautions after the baby has completed the red and blue light treatment?

1. Exposure time.

The general blue light exposure time is 24-48 hours, and should not exceed 72 hours, or 3 days. It's not the case that the longer the better.

2. Supplement other vitamins appropriately.

Blue light can break down vitamin B2 in the body, so if the baby is exposed to blue light for more than 24 hours, it is necessary to supplement vitamin B2 appropriately to avoid vitamin imbalance in the body.

3. Can be done simultaneously with breastfeeding.

Blue light treatment needs to be done in an incubator. Many women who have just given birth think that they cannot breastfeed in time. In fact, this does not affect breastfeeding. They can express the breast milk and give it to professional medical staff for feeding.

4. The side effects are minor.

Many people think that blue light exposure will have side effects, because the baby may experience diarrhea, fever and other phenomena during the blue light exposure process, which will not particularly affect the phototherapy.

5. Pay attention to check whether your baby's skin is damaged.

Because phototherapy involves exposing the newborn to an incubator, and each baby's skin sensitivity is different, it is important to check and see if the baby's skin is damaged during or after the exposure so that timely treatment can be provided.

6. Pay attention to the basis for stopping phototherapy.

Some family members may think that the baby’s jaundice has subsided and phototherapy is no longer necessary. This is wrong. The disappearance of jaundice cannot be used as a basis for stopping phototherapy. In addition, phototherapy is not only for the treatment of jaundice.

In short, the effect of phototherapy is undeniable, and parents should also learn some baby care knowledge. After all, when accompanying children to grow up, many phenomena that cannot be ignored will occur, so this is also the growth of parents.
