Early stage of vitiligo in children

Early stage of vitiligo in children

Vitiligo is a relatively common acquired skin depigmentation disease in clinical practice. The common clinical manifestation is the appearance of white spots on the skin surface. Young women are generally the main patient population. In recent years, the incidence rate among children has gradually increased. Many parents do not understand the causes of vitiligo in children. Only by understanding the early manifestations of vitiligo can they better detect and treat it.

In the early stages of vitiligo in children, the white spots are not obvious because the pigment in the white spots has not completely disappeared at this time. Therefore, the white spots are grayish white or milky white, similar to normal skin, and there are no obvious dividing lines. Therefore, the white spots of vitiligo are not easy to recognize.

The white spots of vitiligo may appear anywhere on the patient's body. Vitiligo is prone to occur in areas that are often exposed to the outside and prone to friction, such as the head, neck, limbs, face, elbows, knees, etc. Vitiligo in these areas is not easy to recognize.

If vitiligo is not treated in time, the white spots will spread, and the pigment in the white spots will completely disappear. The white spots will become pure white or porcelain white, which is clearly different from normal skin and is very easy to identify. There is a clear dividing line between white spots and normal skin, and the dividing line is slightly deeper than that of normal skin in vitiligo.

Generally, the white spots of vitiligo do not show symptoms such as redness, itching, desquamation or atrophy except for the loss of pigment. The skin in the white spots is smooth and elastic, and various physiological functions are normal. After friction, the white spots of vitiligo will turn red like normal skin, and will return to their original color when the friction stops.
