Summer fever in children

Summer fever in children

We all know that when summer comes, there are the most bacteria in the air, because the high temperature in summer is particularly prone to the growth of bacteria. Summer is also the season when people are most likely to get sick. The more common diseases in summer are heat colds, fever, diarrhea, heat stroke, etc. If the disease occurs in adults, it is better, but if a child is sick, it is particularly worrying. So what is the reason for children's fever in summer?

Why do children easily have fever in summer?

Improper clothing

In the hot summer, many parents will reduce the amount of clothes for their babies, increase the exposure of their skin, and put them in small vests, single skirts or backless clothes, especially when they sleep at night. Some even expose their babies' bellies. These will cause them to catch colds and fevers.

The correct way to dress your baby in summer is

The style of the baby's clothes should not be too revealing. The clothes should be loose and soft, and thin cotton yarn is preferred. Do not use chemical fiber items that may easily irritate the baby's skin.

The area around the baby's belly button must be well protected, especially when the baby is sleeping and is relatively quiet. This is when you should pay most attention to the baby's clothing. In addition, the baby should also wear cotton socks, and the soles of the feet must be kept warm, because the soles of the baby's feet are different from those of adults and are very sensitive to temperature.

Improper use of air conditioner or fan

In the summer, the sun is shining brightly. Due to improper use of air conditioners, such as setting the temperature too low, children stay in a closed air-conditioned room for a long time, especially when the baby is sleeping, and the baby is blowing against the air vents, this will cause the baby's body temperature regulation to be disordered and cause the baby to have a fever.

Correct use of air conditioning

In summer, it is more suitable for children to keep the indoor temperature around 26 degrees. Do not set the air conditioner too low.

Avoid blowing directly towards your child, and do not let your baby go to an air-conditioned room or eat cold drinks immediately after exercise or when sweating. This can easily cause a stress response in the child's body, making it easy for him to develop symptoms such as colds and gastrointestinal discomfort.

Parents should not let their babies stay in the air-conditioned room for a long time. They should pay attention to indoor ventilation, open the windows frequently, and try to open the windows for 10 to 30 minutes each time.

Not paying attention to changing and washing baby's clothes frequently

What is the reason for a baby's fever in summer? The weather is hot in summer, which is when various bacteria breed. In addition, babies are prone to sweating in summer, so baby's clothes, sheets and pillowcases should be washed and changed frequently. As long as they are contaminated by sweat, they should be changed quickly. Don't let the baby stay in a sweaty state all the time.

The correct way to care is

When it is hot and you sweat a lot, you should take a bath at least 4-6 times a day. Taking a bath only in the morning and evening may not be enough. If excessive sweat is not washed off in time, your skin will still get prickly heat even if you wear less.

Clothes should be loose and soft, and thin cotton yarn is preferred. This can protect the baby's skin from irritation and allergies, and make the body feel cool because sweat is easily absorbed. Never use chemical fiber items that can easily irritate the baby's skin.

Summer baby fever is not necessarily a cold

Another reason why babies have fever in summer is summer fever, also known as summer heat syndrome. This is a unique physiological phenomenon. The main reason is that the summer climate is hot, the ambient temperature rises, and the temperature regulation center of infants and young children is not yet mature, which leads to high body temperature. Most of them are babies under 3 years old.

Symptoms of heatstroke in babies:

"Fever" is the most common symptom of summer heat, and its high fever pattern is often regular. The body temperature gradually rises from the early morning, continues at noon, gradually subsides in the afternoon, is lowest in the evening, and begins to rise again after nightfall. The daily body temperature changes regularly and continues until the end of summer. During this period, apart from fever, slight loss of appetite, crying and other reactions, there are few other discomfort symptoms. This symptom often occurs in children under 3 years old, especially babies less than 1 year old.

There is basically no need to use medication to treat summer heat, and antipyretics are only used as a precautionary measure. If a child's high fever is confirmed to be caused by summer fever, the simplest and most effective treatment is to "turn on the air conditioner." Adjust the indoor temperature to an appropriate level, ensure a light diet, adequate water, and give your baby more vegetable soup, which can effectively relieve children's summer fever symptoms.

Before diagnosing summer fever, be sure to ask a doctor to check and rule out other pathological causes that may cause your baby's fever, such as urinary tract infection, otitis media, malignant tumors, autoimmune diseases, etc. It is not appropriate to diagnose a baby with summer fever based solely on the manifestation of body temperature.
