Three-month-old baby cannot lift his head

The developmental problems of newborns make parents very worried, especially the abnormal conditions shown by some babies are disturbing. Among them, the problem of babies lifting their heads is the easiest sign to judge. Generally speaking, the cervical spine gradually becomes harder and stronger during the development of infants, and newborns can gradually begin to lift their heads. This is a sign of normal development. However, why can't babies lift their heads at three months old?

Newborn babies can lie on their stomachs and backs, but cannot lift their heads. Their eyes can only see a limited area, so they need to be held in their mother’s arms so that they can see farther. By 2 months, the baby can lift his head slightly. After 3 months, the baby's head can be lifted more steadily. Because at this time the baby can actively search for things around him through sounds, and he needs to turn and raise his head during the process.

If the baby cannot lift his head, the mother can use the correct method to train the baby so that the baby can lift his head to look at things at 45 degrees or 90 degrees. The training method is relatively simple. First, hold the baby upright and support the baby's back and buttocks with your hands. Then take the baby outdoors to look at things around him. Ask the father to point at things and talk to the baby to attract the baby's attention. Next, place the baby in front of your chest and abdomen, put your hands on the baby's back to tease the baby, and the baby will sometimes look up. Finally, let the baby lie prone on the bed with his arms forward, use toys to attract the baby and encourage the baby to raise his head.

If a baby does not raise his head for three months, it is normal if there are no other abnormalities. It is related to the baby's developmental delay. The baby should be supplemented with trace elements such as calcium and zinc in time and get appropriate sun exposure.

When the baby is over three months old, it is necessary to start other exercises for the child, that is, head exercises. When the child is still young, start to train the child to do head-up exercises one hour before feeding. It is also good to practice head exercises at this time, but the bed should be clean and comfortable, but not a Simmons bed. It is better for the child to sleep on a solid bed such as a wooden bed. In this way, the child will develop better in the future and will not suffer from some minor illnesses that should not exist. It is also good for the child's bone development.
