Common psychological problems and counseling for high school students

High school is the golden period in people's lives. During this period, not only will students be very busy academically, but they will also be physically exhausted. As high school students, they are under great pressure in their daily studies, and they will soon face the college entrance examination, which will naturally create some psychological burdens. Parents should not mention study problems at this time and should provide psychological counseling.

Research has found that high school students have the following psychological characteristics:

1. Independence. Whether in the arrangements of their personal lives or in their views on life and society, high school students have begun to have their own opinions and space for activities. For example, he is unwilling to let parents participate in his work and is unwilling to let parents enter his room. During this stage, the intellectual development of high school students is close to maturity, their abstract logical thinking is rapidly transforming from "empirical" to "theoretical", and their emotions are becoming increasingly deep, stable, and closed. For example, they are unwilling to express their thoughts to their parents or teachers, but instead hide them in their hearts or record them in a special notebook.

2. Balance. During this period, high school students' physical development matures rapidly, while their psychological development lags behind their physical development. The development of their physical and psychological, and psychological and social relationships are not synchronized and are highly unbalanced. They lack rationality, are impulsive, and emotionally fragile. Some have a fragile mentality of fear of setbacks, weak will, and are emotional. They cannot withstand the blow of setbacks. Once they fail or get unsatisfactory test results, they cannot face them properly, causing their academic performance to plummet, which becomes uncontrollable.

3. Rebellious psychology. Rebellious psychology and blind worship coexist. Adolescence is a period when students' personality is formed and their bodies are moving towards maturity. During this period, there is an obvious tendency in the development of students' mentality, which is rebellious psychology. They strongly deny the authoritative ideas formed in childhood and go to the other extreme, casting doubts on everything that exists and all concluded facts. On the other hand, they show a mentality of blind worship. They idolize singers and movie stars from Hong Kong and Taiwan, and have formed a large group of fans on campus. The coexistence of rebellious psychology and blind worship shows that adolescent students are still in the growth stage and their mental state fluctuates greatly.
