The birth of every new life will bring a lot of joy and a warm atmosphere to every family, but we all know that new life needs to be protected when it is born, especially sterilization and feeding issues, so we need to know more about babies so that we can take better care of them. We often see on TV that the belly button of a baby is cut off when it is born, but we don’t know when the cut belly button will fall off, so we should know more basic common sense. On the second day after the birth of a newborn, the gauze wrapped around the umbilicus should be removed and replaced with sterile gauze to gently cover it, and it should be changed once a day. If the umbilical cord stump has shrunk, there is no need to use gauze. Exposing the umbilical cord will help it dry and fall off. Before replacement, the umbilical cord should be disinfected with 75% alcohol. The umbilical stump of a newborn should be kept clean and dry, and the umbilical cord should be disinfected once a day with 5% povidone-iodine or 75% alcohol solution. During disinfection, the index finger and thumb of the left hand should expose the umbilicus, and the right hand should use a small cotton swab dipped in disinfectant to disinfect from the inside to the outside in a spiral shape, with a diameter of about 3 cm. At the same time, pay attention to the disinfection of the concave part of the lower edge of the umbilical wheel. Baby's clothes and diapers should be changed, washed, dried and ironed frequently. Do not use changed clothes, diapers or other dirty items to scrub or cover the navel; the area should be kept clean and dry. Abandon the traditional bad custom of wrapping the navel with moxa leaves or dirty cloth; the skin around the umbilical cord stump is red and swollen, and yellow or white pus is discharged. This is a sign of umbilical cord infection in the newborn and the baby should be sent to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time to avoid complications of sepsis and neonatal tetanus. When bathing, try to avoid splashing bath water into the navel, and wipe it clean and disinfect it immediately after bathing. 7. When changing the diaper, be careful not to cover the navel to prevent urine and feces from contaminating the navel. After the umbilical cord falls off, you should always pay attention to keeping the navel clean and dry to prevent bacterial invasion. If you find that the navel is often moist, sprinkle some talcum powder for disinfection to keep it dry. Do not use anti-inflammatory powder. If granulation tissue is formed, you can use 5% to 10% silver nitrate solution to promote its healing; if granulation tissue recurs, you should go to the hospital to see a doctor. If there is purulent secretion with an odor and redness around the navel, it is a sign of inflammation and you need to go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment, otherwise there is a possibility of sepsis. The umbilical cord falls off: The stump of the newborn's umbilical cord is tied and gradually dries up. The stump of the umbilical cord falls off about 7 days after birth, commonly known as falling belly button. Sometimes there is a little bleeding and moisture at the bottom of the belly button. Wipe it with alcohol every day and avoid getting it wet. As long as it is not infected, it will heal in a few days. Note: Pay attention to the navel during each care. If the umbilicus is damp, bleeding, or has increased secretions, disinfection should be strengthened. You should go to the hospital immediately if any of the following situations occur: 1. When the umbilical secretion increases, there is mucus or purulent secretion, and there is a peculiar smell. 2. The navel is moist and the skin of the abdominal wall around the navel is red and swollen. 3. Umbilical hemolysis, or small light red dots appear deep in the umbilical cord, which bleed easily when touched. 4. The healing time is prolonged, more than half a month |
