Baby lying flat with head tilted to one side

Baby lying flat with head tilted to one side

We often see babies like to lie flat with their heads tilted to feed. This is an incorrect feeding posture. When lying flat, the trachea and stomach are not at the same level, making it easy for the baby to choke on milk, spit up milk, or burp. It is recommended that the mother hold the baby up so that the baby's head is higher than the stomach and the milk is not easy to flow back. The mother can also lay the baby on his side, which is also a good way to feed. After feeding, remember to hold the baby upright.

1. The way of the baby lying on one side to feed looks more relaxed and casual, and the mother is relatively relaxed as well, and it even gives a very warm picture. Another advantage of feeding while lying down is that the baby can easily fall asleep. It is indeed a very good way. Some mothers particularly like this. In fact, this method is a lazy and worry-free way. However, if this continues for a long time, problems will arise in the later stages, because if the baby starts eating complementary foods or drinking formula milk, and some babies also require this posture, then problems will arise.

2. In one case, we recommend that the mother hold the baby in her arms, with the baby facing the mother, and let the baby slightly tilt his body back and drink milk sideways. This posture actually makes the baby feel more comfortable and will not choke the baby. The baby will not bend his body when feeding. However, if the feeding time is long, the mother may feel a little tired because the arms, waist and back will feel sore.

3. Baby's teeth are easily hurt. If the baby drinks milk while lying down, then the baby's front teeth will be soaked in milk. Most of us know that nowadays babies have sufficient nutrition in all aspects, and their teeth will develop quickly. Therefore, drinking milk in this way can easily affect the baby's teeth, especially when the baby falls asleep after drinking. The remaining milk in the mouth will rot and produce acid. Over time, the teeth are prone to decalcification, and in severe cases, pulpitis may occur. Therefore, mothers must pay attention and don't think it is convenient and worry-free. In fact, it will harm the baby and should not be ignored.

4. Cause infectious diseases in the ear canal. Babies are more likely to choke on milk when they drink milk while lying down than when they are held in the arms. If a baby drinks milk while lying down, whether it is lying on its side or on its front, the milk will flow in the mouth longer than when the baby is held in the arms, and it is easy for the baby to choke if he is not careful. Then, when the baby is lying down to drink milk, the chance of abnormal middle ear pressure will increase, which will not only affect the development of hearing, but also cause the chance of certain ear canal infectious diseases.
