Sometimes, although parents take good care of their children, there are always times when they are negligent. Especially as children grow, bumps and bruises often occur during play. Sometimes, the child may even hit the back of the head. As we all know, the brain is very important in the body. If a child hits the back of the head, many parents will worry about what will happen. When children are young, they have poor self-protection awareness and imperfect balance ability, so they are bound to fall accidentally. The incidence of head injuries after falls is relatively high. Therefore, parents are especially reminded to strengthen supervision during this period to avoid accidents and regrets. I once encountered a case of a one-year-old child who had just learned to walk. In order to encourage the child to walk, his parents let him walk around the house. As a result, the floor tiles were slippery, and the child slipped on his back after just two steps. His back hit the ground heavily and he immediately fell into a coma, did not respond to calls, and had convulsions. He was rushed to the hospital. A CT scan of the head revealed intracranial hemorrhage and brain herniation, so the doctor performed a craniotomy on him overnight. What we fear most in life is that our children fall and hit their heads. Once this happens, don't panic too much. So what should we do? Here I would like to share my limited experience with you.First of all, when picking up the baby from the ground, be sure not to move too violently to avoid causing other unnecessary injuries. If a child falls and hits his head, he should go to the hospital immediately if: Found head trauma with bleeding; After the fall, the child does not cry or make a fuss, but gradually becomes unconscious, comatose and drowsy; Repeated vomiting, lethargy, poor spirits, or severe crying occur within 48 hours after the fall; Within 48 hours of the fall, bleeding and discharge from the ears and nose and pupils of varying sizes occurred. There are many situations in which children fall, and they are not necessarily dangerous. In general, we can deal with it like this:If a child falls and hits his head and there is no bleeding but a swelling, he should be treated with cold compress immediately. Hot compress can be used after 24 hours to speed up the metabolism and relieve swelling and bruises. Smaller scalp hematomas can generally be absorbed on their own in 1-2 weeks, while large hematomas may take 4-6 weeks to be absorbed. After a while of falling, try to divert your child's attention and do not hold him while sleeping. If the baby falls asleep soon after crying after falling, wake him up within an hour. If he wakes up crying, then there is no problem. Even if you fall on your head, don't always suspect a concussion. A concussion is characterized by a period of loss of consciousness and awareness. If the child remains conscious, there will be no problem. If the baby vomits, it may be caused by fright or a temporary brain concussion. Generally, it will be better after vomiting two or three times, which is different from a concussion. Even if it is a concussion, if it is mild, there will be no sequelae. After a child falls on his head, he should be observed for two days to rule out the possibility of delayed bleeding. Try to let him rest more and move less during these two days. If you remain in good spirits and have a normal appetite within two days, you can rest assured. |
