What to do if your child has eczema

What to do if your child has eczema

Eczema is a very difficult skin disease to treat. This skin disease is particularly stubborn. Many children are more likely to get this disease because most skin diseases are caused by low resistance in the body. Children's resistance is generally much worse than that of adults, so children are very likely to get eczema. Eczema usually causes some red spots on the surface of the skin. So what should children do if they have eczema?

After the baby has eczema, parents should not apply any over-the-counter medicine on him/her. In addition to taking your baby to see a doctor and using medication, you should also pay attention to the following general methods of caring for dermatitis.

1. Keep your skin clean and dry

When bathing your baby, it is advisable to use warm water and non-alkaline bath products to clean the baby's body. For babies with intertrigo, special attention should be paid to cleaning the folds of the skin. When taking a bath, the shower gel must be rinsed off. After washing, wipe the moisture off the baby's body and apply a non-oily moisturizer to avoid hindering the normal breathing of the skin. The baby's hair should also be washed every day. If the baby has seborrheic dermatitis, washing the head carefully can remove the scabs. If the scab has hardened and stuck to the head, apply olive oil on the affected area and then wash it after a while.

2. Avoid external stimulation

Parents should always pay attention to changes in temperature and humidity around their baby. Babies with contact dermatitis should especially avoid exposing their skin to cold wind or strong sunlight. In summer, after your baby sweats during exercise, you should wipe off his sweat carefully; when the weather is cold and dry, you should apply anti-allergic non-oily moisturizer to your baby.

In addition to paying attention to weather changes, parents should not let their babies wear clothes that are easy to irritate the skin, such as wool, silk, nylon, etc.

3. Shorten your nails

If your baby suffers from severely itchy atopic dermatitis or contact dermatitis, parents should regularly trim their baby's nails to reduce the chance of scratching.

4. Avoid certain foods

Except for atopic dermatitis, there is no need to abstain from food for other eczema. Let your baby eat less animal protein, such as milk and eggs, only under the supervision of a doctor or nutritionist. It is best not to ban certain foods without clear evidence. It is not recommended to deprive your baby of proper nutrition in order to avoid allergies. During the abstinence period, general treatments, such as lubricants and ointments, must continue to be used.

It should be emphasized that eczema will recur. It may improve in the early stage of medication, but it will relapse soon. Long-term medication is not recommended, otherwise it will cause the skin to become hormone-dependent. The root cause of eczema is the imperfection of the gastrointestinal system. Allergens ingested can easily enter the bloodstream through the thin intestinal wall. Since the subcutaneous capillaries are the most abundant, eczema will immediately appear on the skin. The key to treating eczema is not to test out allergens from countless substances and avoid them, but to improve the baby's gastrointestinal system. Therefore, you can eat some beneficial bacteria such as Mommy Love or Biostime on a regular basis. As the baby grows up and the gastrointestinal system becomes more complete, eczema will improve.
