How to properly care for a child with a cold?

Very young infants and young children have very poor body resistance, so they are very easy to get sick, for example, children often catch colds. When parents see their baby is not feeling well, they will be very anxious. Don’t panic when giving the baby an injection. It is normal for children to catch a cold. Don’t use medicine blindly. It is very important to care for your child correctly. The following tasks must be done well.

1. Take breaks

Provide adequate rest and care, and resume activities only after symptoms disappear to avoid an attack if the root cause is not completely eliminated.

2. Eat a healthy diet

The general principle is to choose easily digestible foods, such as liquid foods, soft foods, and eat small meals frequently. You can drink more fruit juice to supplement your nutrition. As the condition improves and digestion ability improves, the consistency of food can be changed appropriately until a normal diet can be resumed.

3. Physical cooling

When you have a fever, use physical cooling methods first. If it doesn't work, take appropriate antipyretic drugs.

Physical cooling methods include: local heat dissipation, warm baths or warm water sponge baths, cold salt water enema, etc. Taking a warm bath or a warm water sponge bath is more effective, but the disadvantage is that it is difficult to implement in winter. The local heat dissipation cooling method is more suitable for use at home.

The local heat dissipation cooling method usually involves applying a cold, wet towel or ice bag to the head, and then applying ice bags to areas with larger blood vessels, such as the neck, armpits, and groin, to accelerate cooling. Ice packs or cold wipes need to be replaced frequently.

4. Effective sweating

Drinking more water increases sweating, promotes circulation, and excretes toxins, while also helping to lower body temperature.

5. Suitable environment

Keep the room quiet to ensure the child's sleep. You can tell stories softly or listen to music to help the child relax.

Keeping the room well ventilated helps with sweating and cooling down. However, avoid blowing directly towards the child.

Children should wear loose clothes to facilitate effective sweating and heat dissipation. Afterwards, wearing too much clothing and using too thick blankets can easily induce febrile convulsions. After taking antipyretics, change sweaty clothes promptly.

6. Observe the changes of the condition at any time

Pay attention to the precursors of convulsions in children with fever and prevent them from happening. Children who have had febrile convulsions should take Lumina under the guidance of a doctor to prevent recurrence of febrile convulsions.
