What causes red and swollen eyes in children?

Red and swollen eyes are a common symptom in children. There are many reasons for this, such as poor diet, getting angry, and not paying attention to hygiene. These can easily cause such problems. In addition, if the eyelashes are often turned inward, they can easily rub the eyeballs and cause such symptoms. For some babies, if the nasolacrimal duct is not fully developed, red and swollen eyes are also likely to occur.

1. Getting angry

Generally, babies need to be fed water in time in summer, but some mothers are careless and do not care, so the baby gets inflamed due to lack of water. After getting inflamed, the baby's eye mucus will increase and the eyes will turn red, so it is recommended that all mothers must feed the baby water in time in summer.

2. It’s also related to mom’s eating habits

During the baby's breastfeeding period, the mother must pay attention to nutrition and not eat spicy and greasy food just for the sake of momentary pleasure. If she does, if the baby doesn't get irritated, who will? Therefore, in order to go to the hospital less often and for the healthy growth of our babies, I hope that all mothers can pay attention to their babies' diet during breastfeeding.

3. Take good care of your baby’s hygiene.

Check if your baby's nails are too long and then cut them. Also, mothers are requested to wash their babies' hands frequently. If this habit is formed, the baby will not rub his eyes with dirty hands. If you don't wash your hands, severe symptoms of conjunctivitis may occur.

4. Another problem is eyelashes

When a baby's eyelashes grow, they sometimes turn inward, which will rub against the eyeball, causing an increase in eye mucus and red eyes. Therefore, it is recommended that mothers use a cotton swab dipped in warm water to comb the baby's eyelashes.

5. Another reason is that the baby's nasolacrimal duct is not fully developed.

Tears cannot be discharged smoothly, causing excessive eye mucus, and in severe cases, the eyes will become red and swollen. Therefore, mothers should massage the baby's nose bridge every day to promote the development of the baby's nasolacrimal duct.
