How to supplement calcium for two-month-old babies

When a baby is just born, his body functions are not fully developed. The nutrients he needs during his development are obtained through food. If the baby is found to have symptoms of calcium deficiency during the feeding process, calcium supplementation must be carried out through certain means. For babies of two months old, calcium supplementation can only come from breast milk. We can increase the amount of feeding. In some cases where calcium deficiency is particularly serious, we can also take calcium supplements for supplementation.

1. Promote breastfeeding

Babies need more calcium than adults, so they should be given enough calcium. Breast milk is a natural calcium supplement. The ratio of calcium and phosphorus is most suitable for baby absorption, so breastfeeding is recommended. Breastfeeding mothers should eat more calcium-rich foods, which can increase the calcium content of breast milk and indirectly supplement calcium for the baby.

2. Artificial feeding can be appropriately increased

For babies who are fed artificially with infant formula, the amount of milk required at this time may increase significantly compared to the neonatal period, but the amount of milk fed each time should be controlled within 200 ml. Two-month-old babies can be fed with appropriate amounts of fruit and vegetable juice, 20 to 30 ml each time, about 4 to 6 spoons, 1 to 2 times a day. The concentration can be increased appropriately.

3. Get some sun exposure

Exposing the skin to sunlight is the main source of vitamin D for the human body. If you want to absorb calcium well, you must have enough vitamin D. Because 2-month-old babies are still too young, they cannot be exposed to the sun directly outdoors. They can only be exposed to the sun indoors. No glass windows or screens are allowed to separate them from the sun to reduce the penetration of ultraviolet rays. It is best to open the window when the sun is slanting to let the baby bask in the sun. Sunbathe 1-2 times a day, 5-10 minutes each time. Generally, healthy babies can sunbathe indoors after 2 weeks, and babies can only be taken outdoors to sunbathe 3-4 weeks after birth.

4. Take calcium supplements

Breast milk or cow's milk is the main food for babies aged 0 to 1 year old, so for infants and young children of this period, calcium with a light milk flavor is the most suitable. Infants and young children have weak digestive abilities and most need to be fed by adults. Therefore, you should choose calcium supplements that can be mixed evenly with a small amount of water and are easy for babies to take.
