Reasons for green and foamy baby stools

Many parents are very worried when they take care of their children for the first time, fearing that their children will have some disease, so they are very concerned about their stools. Once an abnormal situation occurs, they will be very nervous. For example, if the baby's stool is green and foamy, this may be enteritis, so let us understand the reasons why the baby's stool is green and foamy.

Several other common pathological stools in children: Hard stools: Causes: 1. Breast fat is easily alkalized, resulting in very dry and hard stools. 2. Infants have poor physical constitution and insufficient intestinal motility, so feces stay in the intestines for too long, causing water to be absorbed and making the stool particularly dry and hard. 3. Because milk contains more casein and minerals, it is easy for milk-fed babies to have dry stools, which is the main cause of constipation in infancy. Therefore, when feeding with milk, you can use rice soup to dilute the milk to prevent casein, fat and minerals from forming lumps and reduce stool constipation. 4. If there is too little crude fiber in children's food (too little intake of vegetables, fruits, etc.), they may not defecate on time and are prone to constipation. If you haven't had a bowel movement for two days, you can cut the soap into a little finger-sized bar and insert it into your anus. Press the anus for a few minutes and feces will be discharged. Do this once every two days after that. After a few times, the constipation will be eliminated. Never use sesame oil and lard as laxatives. Babies may suffer from diarrhea after using sesame oil or lard as laxatives.

Bloody stool: If there is pure blood in the stool, you must consult a doctor immediately. Common cases of bloody stools in infants include intussusception, bloody stools that are often syrupy (accompanied by paroxysmal abdominal pain, but sometimes without abdominal pain symptoms), mucus and blood in the stools, small amounts of stool, 5 to 6 or less than 10 times a day, and sometimes bloody and pus in the stools, in which case dysentery should be considered. However, the stool may be black when taking iron supplements orally.

Sugar malabsorption stool: It is characterized by increased frequency and volume of bowel movements, yellow-green color, rough stool, paste-like or piled stool, with a lot of foam and a strong sour smell. If children are fed too much starchy food, such as milk cakes and sugar, they often suffer from abdominal distension and anal flatulence.

Protein malabsorption stool: It is characterized by an increase in the frequency of bowel movements, generally 3 to 5 times, and is yellowish-brown watery stool or grayish-white hard stool with a pungent smell of rotten eggs. Sometimes belching in children also has the same waste gas. If children are found to have this kind of stool, it usually means that they are fed too much milk and too little sugar.

Fat maldigestion stool: It is characterized by a large amount of stool each time, light yellow paste or liquid, oily color, can slide in the toilet bowl, and has a foul odor. This is mainly caused by the fat in the food not being digested well.

Diarrhea stool, stool with too much water or uneven stool, egg drop soup-like appearance, obvious fishy smell, or a lot of foam or mucus, etc., all indicate that the baby has diarrhea. The stool of artificially fed babies is green, indicating increased intestinal motility or symptoms of enteritis, which is also a characteristic of diarrhea.

In the article, we have learned the reasons why baby stools are green and foamy, so it is best to take your child to the hospital for a detailed examination, because if your child's stool appears green, it is possible that there is a gastrointestinal disease, so it cannot be taken lightly.
