You can have a comprehensive understanding of it and treat your child's abdominal pain through massage.

1. Massage methods

Step 1: Push three levels 100 times

Location: On the radial side of the forearm (thumb side), in a straight line from the wrist crease to the elbow crease.

Technique: Pushing method - use the tips of your index and middle fingers to push in a straight line on the acupuncture point.

Operation: Use the side of your thumb or the surface of your index and middle fingers to push from the wrist to the elbow, which is called pushing the three joints. Push 50 to 100 times.

Key points: The force should be gentle and even, and the pushing should be rhythmic, with a frequency of 200 to 300 times per minute.

Step 2: Abdominal massage for 5 minutes

Technique: Massage - place the palm or the tips of the index, middle and ring fingers on a certain part or acupoint, and rub the wrist joint and forearm in a circular motion in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction. Massage with the palm is called palm massage, and massage with the fingers is called finger massage.

Key points: Use gentle and appropriate force, the speed should be even and coordinated, and the operation frequency should be 120 to 160 times per minute. Finger massage can be slightly light and brisk, while palm massage can be slightly heavy and slow.

2. Examining the disease and seeking the cause

Abdominal pain is a common symptom in children clinically. Any pain that occurs in the abdomen below the stomach, on both sides of the navel, and above the lower abdomen is considered abdominal pain. If the pain is in the ribs on both sides, it is called flank pain, and if the pain is above the navel, it is called stomach pain.

Abdominal pain can be caused by many reasons and covers a wide range. It can generally be divided into two categories: organic and functional.

Functional abdominal pain is often caused by simple gastrointestinal spasm, such as indigestion, intestinal motility disorders, allergic intestinal spasm and gastrointestinal parasitic diseases. The pain usually manifests as an area without a clear pain point. Children often cannot tell the specific location of the pain, and the pain location is not fixed. The pain duration is sometimes long and sometimes short. The most important abdominal muscles basically do not have muscle tension, that is, they are hard like a stone.

Some children also complain of stomachache because they don’t want to go to school or because the food they eat doesn’t suit their taste. Parents should carefully observe their child's complexion, expression, and duration of pain. If the child's stomachache is caused by psychological factors, they should deal with it tactfully and even consult a child psychologist.

Massage can effectively relieve abdominal pain. Therefore, as a parent, when your child has abdominal pain, you can have a comprehensive understanding of the above content and use some of the above methods to relieve the abdominal pain by massaging your child. However, the editor here recommends that if the above massage cannot relieve the symptoms, you should take your child to the hospital for a comprehensive examination and treatment as soon as possible to avoid delaying the disease.
