Why does the baby cry in the wind?

Why does the baby cry in the wind?

Many parents will find that when they take their babies out in windy weather, the babies' eyes will shed tears, that is, tears in the wind. This situation may be caused by many reasons. In addition to weather reasons, it is very likely that there is a problem with the baby's own eyes. In this case, you should take your baby to the hospital for a detailed examination in time.

1. When the tear glands are stimulated by external factors such as cold air or wind, they can reflexively secrete more tears, but the excessive tears cannot be discharged from the tear ducts in time and flow out of the eyelids, causing tears.

2. The tear secretion volume is normal, the tear duct is unobstructed and flushing is smooth, but the orbicularis oculi muscle is relaxed, the tear pump function is weakened or disappears, causing tear discharge obstruction and tearing.

3. Due to chronic eye inflammation: such as conjunctivitis, trachoma, trauma, foreign bodies, tumors, etc., the tear duct is narrowed, the tear duct is not completely blocked, the tear drainage function is reduced, and the normal amount of tears cannot flow completely into the nasal cavity and flow out of the eyelids, resulting in tearing.

Although all three conditions cause tearing, the clinical treatments are different. The first type is purely physiological tearing phenomenon. Once the external stimulation factors are removed, the tearing symptoms will stop and no treatment is needed. The second type is functional epiphora mucosa, which enhances the tear drainage function. The third type is organic epiphora, which causes tears even when indoors. If tears cannot be discharged in time and remain in the tear duct, it will cause bacterial infection and lead to dacryocystitis. At this time, the bacteria in the lacrimal sac can flow back into the conjunctival sac through the lacrimal puncta. It will cause harm to the health of the eyes. Go to the hospital for treatment in time.

In this case, it is recommended to take your baby to the hospital for a detailed examination in time. It is most likely a problem with the baby's eyes, so there is no delay. You should pay more attention to your baby's eye health. In daily life, it is best to take your baby to the hospital for regular check-ups. Of course, a baby's tears in the wind does not necessarily mean that there is any eye disease, so parents should not worry too much and just check it in time.
