What should I do if my child has dermatitis?

As the largest organ in the human body, the skin protects our body from the harmful external environment at all times. Since children have weaker immunity, their skin is easily affected by the external environment. Dermatitis is a common disease among children and also makes mothers very worried. So what should we do if our child has dermatitis? The editor has collected some suggestions on how to deal with dermatitis and would like to share them with mothers here.

1. Relieve itching. Use different oral desensitization drugs according to the baby's age, such as chlorpheniramine, diphenhydramine, cetirizine hydrochloride or loratadine.

2. Anti-inflammatory. Topical hormone ointments have good anti-inflammatory and antipruritic effects. When there are only small red bumps, you can apply hormone ointments with relatively small side effects, such as: 1% hydrocortisone, Eucerin or Eloson, etc., and stop using it after the rash disappears. When there is hydropic erosion, apply cold compress with 3% boric acid water 3 times a day for 20-30 minutes each time to reduce skin edema and exudation, and then apply zinc oxide ointment locally. Babies over 2 years old can use 0.03% tacrolimus cream or 1% pimecrolimus ointment externally. These two ointments are relatively new topical ointments for the treatment of atopic dermatitis. They are calcineurin inhibitors, not hormones, so they will not cause local skin infection and atrophy. They are effective in preventing recurrence and can be used for a long time.

3. Moisturizing. Children with atopic dermatitis have abnormally dry and rough skin, which is especially obvious in dry seasons such as autumn and winter, causing severe itching. Moreover, overly dry skin has poor barrier function, makes the skin more sensitive and more prone to allergies, so moisturizing and moisturizing is very important. Because children with atopic dermatitis have very sensitive skin and are prone to allergies, it is best to choose medical skin care products that do not contain fragrances or pigments. Medical skin care products are prescribed by a doctor or purchased at a pharmacy.

I hope that the suggestions mentioned above by the editor on how to solve children’s dermatitis can be helpful to mothers. Children's skin is relatively fragile, so we should take care to protect it in daily life. On days when the environment is particularly bad and the air pollution is serious, we should try to avoid going outside. If skin inflammation is discovered, treatment measures should be taken promptly.
