What are the treatment methods for tonsil suppuration in children?

Children's bodies are relatively weak. If they are not diagnosed and treated in time, they will develop some other diseases. For example, when a child has a cold and coughs, it will lead to pneumonia. When a child's tonsils are in the later stage of development, they will also become purulent. The following are some methods for treating suppurative tonsils in children.

1. General treatment

Pay attention to nutrition, prevent colds, and improve the body's immunity, such as injecting placental globulin and transfer factor. Use 0.5% ephedrine nasal drops to relieve nasal congestion symptoms. And actively treat the causative disease. If you have enlarged tonsils, you may consider having a tonsillectomy first. As people age, their pharyngeal tonsils shrink, so their condition may improve or disappear completely.

2. Surgery

For patients with severe nasopharyngeal obstruction symptoms, poor response to general treatment, and hearing impairment, pharyngeal tonsillectomy should be performed as soon as possible. A careful examination can be done before surgery to identify contraindications. Before removal, you can insert your index finger into the nasopharynx to explore the size and range of the pharyngeal tonsils, and pay attention to any abnormal vascular pulsation. Then, under general anesthesia, a pharyngeal tonsillectomy instrument or a pharyngeal tonsil curette is inserted into the posterior wall of the nasopharyngeal roof along the posterior wall to remove the pharyngeal tonsils. During the operation, be careful not to leave any residue and avoid damaging the Eustachian tube tissue on both sides.

The above are several methods for treating tonsil suppuration in children. In the early stage of treatment, surgical treatment is not required and the overall symptoms are relatively mild, so general treatment can be used. In the later stage of treatment, if the disease develops more seriously, surgical treatment is required. Therefore, it is necessary to discover it as early as possible and treat it early.
