Milk volume for a two-week-old newborn

Milk volume for a two-week-old newborn

Every parent hopes that their baby can grow up healthily, so they try their best to supplement their nutrition and let them eat. In fact, every baby’s food and milk intake is different at each stage of growth. Especially for babies who are still breastfeeding, the amount of milk they need should be determined according to their growth changes. But many parents don't know how much milk their baby needs, so how much milk should a two-week-old baby need?

How much milk is normal for a newborn baby to drink at two weeks

Within 2 months after birth, children will be more focused on drinking milk because they sleep for a long time and will fall asleep after drinking. Therefore, how much milk each child drinks depends on the baby's appetite. After 2 months, the child's appetite begins to decrease, and at 4 months, a physiological milk aversion period will occur. The child will automatically adjust the amount of milk he drinks. These are all normal phenomena. As long as there is nothing abnormal about the child's weight gain, parents do not need to worry too much.

Newborn baby milk intake

Every baby has a different appetite, and the specific amount of milk they eat varies from person to person. There is no fixed standard. As long as the baby's mental state is good and his growth and development are normal, it means that the baby is well fed. How much milk a newborn baby eats, new parents can refer to the following:

For newborn babies, the appropriate amount of milk should be adjusted according to their weight, 30-60 ml each time, 6-8 times a day. Later, the amount of milk can be gradually increased according to its digestive ability, until the baby is one month old, the amount of milk consumed each time is 90-120 ml, and the frequency of feeding is reduced. If the baby cries for milk, the mother should still feed the baby.

In addition, new parents who adopt artificial feeding methods must also learn how to make milk. There are two specific methods:

1. Calculate by weight: Since 8 pounds of fresh milk can make 1 pound of milk powder, when mixing, add 7 times the weight of water to 1 part of milk to restore it to milk. However, it needs to be weighed, so this method is not very practical.

2. Prepare by volume: Since the apparent density of milk powder is 0.5-0.6 g/ml, the ratio of milk powder to water should be 1:4 when preparing it, that is, one level spoon of milk powder plus 4 level spoons of water. In fact, pay attention to the packaging of milk powder, on which you can find instructions on the dosage, mixing methods, daily feeding times and other related matters for different months of milk powder.
