What causes bed-wetting?

Under normal circumstances, adults rarely have symptoms of bedwetting. Even if some people wet the bed, they are embarrassed and cannot talk about it. However, when it comes to bedwetting, people first think of the elderly and children. However, sometimes it is normal for these two types of people to wet the bed. However, if young people have symptoms of bedwetting, it is best to take it seriously, go to the hospital in time to find out the cause, and then treat it symptomatically.

Is bedwetting a disease?

Whether bedwetting in infants and young children is a pathological condition is mainly determined by age, as follows:

1. Infants and young children under three years old: poor urine control at night, often bed-wetting;

2. Children over three years old: If the frequency of nighttime bedwetting exceeds five times a week, treatment is generally required. If it is less than five times a week, observation can be carried out;

3. Children over five years old: If nighttime bedwetting occurs occasionally, no special treatment is generally required. If the frequency of nighttime bedwetting exceeds twice a week, treatment is usually required.

What causes sudden bed-wetting?

Adults who suddenly wet the bed may be because they are frightened in their daily lives and are in a state of high mental concentration, so they may wet the bed in their sleep. This is usually when they have suffered a mental blow and are in a bad state.

Bedwetting is always an abnormal phenomenon, especially for adults. The sudden occurrence of bedwetting may also be a leftover bedwetting syndrome from childhood that has not been completely cured in time. Bedwetting may also occur after adulthood. This situation mainly applies to patients who have had bedwetting before.

Bedwetting may also occur after a urethral or urinary tract infection. When there is a problem with the urethra, it is difficult to control your urination, and you may wet the bed at night.

There are many reasons why adults suddenly wet the bed. When bedwetting occurs, you should not ignore it. You should go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible to find out the cause. You can use Chinese medicine for conditioning when appropriate. Pay attention to your diet at ordinary times and be in a relaxed state mentally.

Causes of enuresis in children

In medicine, children's uncontrollable urination is called enuresis. It is normal for infants aged 0-2 years to be unable to urinate independently because their nervous system and bladder function are not yet fully developed. At the age of 5, about 15% of children still suffer from nocturnal enuresis. Generally, by the age of 5, most children nocturnal enuresis disappears. Significantly more boys suffer from nocturnal enuresis than girls. Most girls no longer have nocturnal enuresis by the age of 2.

There are many causes of enuresis, including developmental delay, abnormal sleep, genetic factors, psychological factors and the impact of disease. Children aged 2-4 are in the most sensitive stage in terms of controlling nighttime urination. If children have an unstable living environment and are anxious during this period, they are prone to enuresis.

Most children with enuresis have no organic disease. The first step to be checked when seeking medical treatment is to check the urine. If there is no evidence of infection such as pus cells and red blood cells, no further examination is required. On the contrary, if the urine is abnormal, urology specialist examinations such as B-ultrasound and X-ray will be required.
