What are the methods to reduce fever in children?

Fever in children is one of the common diseases in children. Fever is usually accompanied by colds and coughs. After a child has a fever, his urine will be red and yellow, his stool will be dry, and he will also have symptoms of fever all over the body and dry throat. Fever in children has a great impact on their physical development, because after a fever, they will feel anorexia and irritable. Not eating for a long time will cause the body to lack nutrition, which is not good for the child's physical development. Not eating for a long time will affect the health of the body. Therefore, some measures should be taken in time to reduce the fever after a child has a fever. The following are some methods to reduce fever in children.

Dress your baby in light clothing to help dissipate heat.

Never let your baby sweat, otherwise it may accelerate the rise in baby's body temperature.

Make sure your baby gets enough rest and gives him plenty of water.

You can drink some light salt water, which is helpful to reduce heat.

Babies should be given more liquid, nutritious, light and easily digestible food.

For example, porridge, vegetable soup, juice, egg custard, etc. Because high fever reduces the activity of digestive enzymes and affects the baby's digestive function, eating greasy food at this time will not only fail to be absorbed, but will cause vomiting or diarrhea, aggravating the body's dehydration.

Reasonable oral antipyretic drugs

If the baby's temperature exceeds 38.5℃, the simplest, safest and most effective way to reduce the temperature is to take reasonable oral antipyretic drugs.

When the baby's fever temperature becomes lower and the intervals between fevers become longer, it means that parents can gradually feel at ease.

When your baby has a fever, parents can refer to the following rules to determine the severity of the condition:

If the baby has cold hands and feet and a pale face during a fever, it means that the baby's temperature will continue to rise;

If the baby's hands and feet become warm and sweat, it means that the body temperature will not rise any further;

If your baby has a high fever above 39.5℃, is in poor spirits, is drowsy or has convulsions, you should seek medical attention immediately.

Massage method to reduce fever

Lung meridian location: the tip of the ring finger.

Operation method: Push method is mainly used. Take your left hand and push from the base of the finger to the fingertip 200 to 400 times. (Usually, pushing the last segment of the fingerprint toward the fingertip is called clearing the lung meridian. Pushing in a spiral or in the opposite direction is called replenishing the lung meridian.)

2 push Tianhe water

Tianhe Water Location: The middle of the inner side of the forearm, in a straight line from the wrist line to the elbow line.

Operation method: Dip your thumb in a small amount of ice water and push Tianhe water 50 times. Tianhe Water runs from the baby's wrist line to the elbow line.

3. Press Hegu acupoint

Location of Hegu point: located between the first and second metacarpal bones, commonly known as the "tiger's mouth".

Operation method: Press the Hegu point on the baby's left hand 50 times with your thumb, then switch to the right hand.

4. Press the thenar

Location of thenar eminence: From the base of the thumb on the front of the palm to the heel, the obvious protrusion when the palm is stretched out.

How to operate: Press vertically on the thenar point with your thumb nail, pressing and loosening for about 2 minutes.

5. Press and rub the Lieque point

Location of Lieque point: on the forearm, above the radial styloid process, 1.5 inches above the transverse wrist crease.

Operation method: Use your thumb to massage the Lieque points on both sides of the baby's wrist for 2 minutes each.

5 practical physical cooling methods at home

1. Soak your feet in hot water

You can soak your feet in warm water at a temperature of about 40°C, and the water should cover your ankles. Rubbing the baby's two little feet can help dilate blood vessels and relieve the discomfort caused by fever.

2. Warm and wet compress

That is, soak a towel in water at about 35°C, take it out and wring out the water, apply it to the forehead, and change it every 10 to 15 minutes.

3. Cover the fontanelle

Fontanelle (xìn mén) refers to the bone gap formed by the loose connection of the skull bones of infants and young children. There are anterior fontanelle and posterior fontanelle.

The anterior fontanelle is located at the front top, is diamond-shaped, and closes about 12 to 18 months after birth.

The posterior fontanelle is located above the occipital bone, is triangular in shape, and closes about 2 to 4 months after birth. The "skylight" or "fontanelle" that people often refer to mainly refers to the anterior fontanelle.

The baby's fontanelle has not completely closed before the baby is one and a half years old. Parents can cover the baby's fontanelle with the palm of their hands after the baby falls asleep until the baby's head sweats slightly. Generally speaking, the baby will start sweating after covering for about 15 to 30 minutes.

4. Rub the soles of your feet and limbs

Rub the soles of the feet first, then rub the calves, hands, arms, and back. Finally, rub the baby's ears to warm them up, and then rub the Baihui acupoint. After a while, the baby will sweat and his body temperature will drop.

5. Cooling patch to reduce fever

Similar to the towel method, but more convenient to use. If the baby's body temperature does not exceed 38.5℃, you don't need to use it.

It is recommended to use the cooling patch when the baby's fever exceeds 38.5℃.
