What should I do if my baby is allergic to pineapple? Please remember these steps

If your baby has an allergic reaction after eating pineapple, the easiest way is to make light salt water at home, because light salt water can remove allergens. In addition, honey water also has this effect. If the allergic condition does not improve, you can take medicine.

1. Salt water

If your baby has an allergic reaction after eating pineapple, it is because the "bromelain" contained in the pineapple is the substance that causes the allergic reaction. Salt water or boiling water can destroy the bromelain and eliminate this allergic substance. In addition, if your baby develops a rash on his skin after eating pineapple, you can use normal saline solution to wash it, but do not use household iodized salt.

2. Honey water

Honey also contains trace amounts of bee venom, a poisonous liquid in the body of bees. Bee venom has an adrenocorticotropic hormone-like effect, which can improve the internal environment of the human body, regulate the body's immunity, and has anti-allergic and anti-radiation effects, and enhances the body's disease resistance. Moreover, drinking pineapple boiled with honey in water can cure bronchitis. However, it is not recommended for babies who are unwell or have diarrhea symptoms to eat it this way.

3. Apply glucocorticoid ointment

If your baby is allergic to pineapples and has bumps, for eczema that is not large in area and is mild, you can apply glucocorticoid ointment (such as Pi Yan Ping ointment, compound dexamethasone cream, etc.) to the affected area. However, since such drugs have certain side effects, they need to be used under the guidance of a doctor, and should not be applied too thickly. Note: Do not apply medicine to children without the doctor's permission. If used improperly, it will aggravate eczema.

4. Call emergency number

If your baby has breathing problems, swelling of the face or lips after eating pineapple, or severe vomiting or diarrhea after eating it, you should call 911 immediately. Severe allergic reactions should never be treated with delay. Your baby's airway may be completely blocked within a few minutes, so it may be too late to send him to the emergency room. You must call emergency personnel immediately.

5. Tips for kissing your baby

Generally, it is not recommended for babies under 2 years old to eat pineapple. If infants and young children with allergies try pineapple for the first and second time, you should be especially careful. It is best to give the child a small amount first, and then observe whether a rash appears within two hours. If you are worried, observe for another 3 days to see whether other delayed allergic symptoms appear. If no allergies occur, it means that the child is not allergic to this fruit and can eat it with confidence in the future. Bromelain may cause allergic reactions such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and hives, so pineapples must be soaked in salt water for about half an hour before eating, then washed off with cold boiled water to remove the saltiness, or cooked to destroy the bromelain, thus removing the allergens. Alternatively, peel and dice the pineapple, cut it into slices or chunks, and cook it in boiling water before eating. Bromelain begins to denature and lose its function at 45℃ to 50℃, and more than 90% of it is destroyed at 100℃.
