Can babies with eczema bask in the sun?

Eczema is not unfamiliar to many of our friends, and they have a certain understanding of it. Eczema is a chronic disease characterized by local scaly and thickened skin, which usually occurs on the limbs, trunk or scalp. It is a multi-gene inherited disease that can be triggered by a variety of triggering factors, such as trauma, infection, and drugs, which may induce the disease in susceptible individuals. Babies are prone to eczema. So can babies with eczema bask in the sun? Let’s take a look at it below.

1. Choose the right time

After the baby is one month old, you can often take him outside to bask in the sun. The best time is 6-10 am, when the infrared rays in the sunlight are strong and the ultraviolet rays are weak, which can promote metabolism; from 4 to 5 pm, the ultraviolet rays contain more X-ray components, which can promote the intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphorus, enhance physical fitness, and promote normal bone calcification.

It should be emphasized that no matter what season it is, it is best not to stay in the sun for a long time between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., especially between noon and 4 p.m., because the ultraviolet rays in the sunlight are the strongest during this period and can cause damage to the skin. The length of each sunbathing time depends on the age of the baby and should be increased gradually from more than ten minutes to 1-2 hours. Or 15-30 minutes each time, several times a day. If you find that your baby's skin becomes red, sweats too much, or has a faster pulse, you should go home immediately and give the baby cool drinks or light salt water, or wipe the baby's body with warm water. You can also sunbathe for a while and then take a rest in the shade.

2. Dress your baby less

Some mothers take their babies to bask in the sun for fear that the babies will catch a cold, so they make their children wear hats, gloves and masks. However, they do not realize that it is difficult to achieve the purpose of sunbathing in this way, because the ultraviolet rays in the spring sun are much weaker than those in the summer, and it is difficult for ultraviolet rays to pass through clothes and reach the skin. When exposing your baby to the sun, you should expose the skin as much as possible according to the current temperature conditions.

3. Pay attention to the irradiated area

Avoid direct sunlight on your head and do not sunbathe through glass. Some mothers are afraid that their babies will be exposed to the wind, so they often let their babies bask in the sun through the glass. However, they do not know that ultraviolet rays have a weak ability to penetrate glass, and most of the ultraviolet rays are blocked outside, thus reducing the effectiveness of sunlight.

4. Don’t take a shower before sunbathing

It is not advisable to sunbathe on an empty stomach, and it is best not to bathe your baby. Because bathing can wash away the material "7-dehydrocholesterol" that synthesizes active vitamin D in human skin, reducing the effect of promoting calcium absorption in the human body.

The above is all about whether patients with eczema can bask in the sun. Patients with eczema must understand this question. They must not bask in the sun casually. You must know that excessive sun exposure is not only not good for patients with eczema, but will also increase the severity of eczema and affect the recovery of eczema. Therefore, mothers are advised not to expose their babies to the sun when they have eczema.
