How to prevent and treat asthma in children?

Spring is a great season when flowers bloom, but the pollen, catkins and dust that come with it will cause a lot of troubles for children. The main reason is that these may cause asthma in children. If a child develops asthma, it will seriously affect the child’s physical health and bring a lot of inconvenience to their lives. So how should children’s asthma be prevented and treated?

Reasons for the increase in children with asthma

First, with the improvement of sanitary conditions, infectious diseases are gradually decreasing, while non-infectious diseases are gradually increasing, and asthma is one of them. Epidemiological surveys in my country show that in the 1990s, the incidence of asthma was only 0.9%. By 2000, the incidence had risen to 1.87%. Currently, preliminary surveys show that the incidence has reached 3%-4%, of which one-third are children. The disease population is large, so the prevention and control task is heavy.

Second, people's level of awareness has improved. In the past, they mistakenly treated it as pneumonia or bronchitis, which could not be cured for a long time. Now they realize that it is asthma that is the cause.

40%-60% of childhood asthma can be completely cured

From a clinical perspective, the prognosis of asthma is often related to the child's age of onset, the severity of the disease, the duration of the disease, whether the treatment is timely and appropriate, and whether there is a personal and family history of allergies. Specifically, there are three categories:

Category 1: Transient wheezing occurring in the early stages (within 1 year of age). Generally, there is no family history of allergies, and the child himself has no history of eczema. This situation will generally improve completely within 1-3 years.

Category 2: Early-onset asthmatic diseases. Children develop the disease within one year of age, most of which are induced by viral infections, and have a family history of allergies, mothers who smoke or are exposed to passive smoking. Most of these children are premature babies. This condition can be completely cured within 3-7 years of age through standardized treatment.

Category 3: Asthma in infants and young children. Asthma is an airway disease caused by various allergic factors, manifested by coughing and wheezing. Older children may experience difficulty breathing and chest tightness, and often have a history of recurrent wheezing and allergies. In this case, prevention is the main treatment, and try to avoid allergen stimulation. Allergens include those found in daily life and those tested in the hospital.

During an asthma attack, standardized anti-inflammatory and anti-asthmatic inhalation treatment is required. During the remission period, standardized anti-inflammatory inhalation treatment is required according to the severity of the disease, supplemented by oral anti-inflammatory drugs and a combination of Chinese and Western medicine.

Asthma in children may be related to allergic rhinitis, so it is necessary to learn some treatment methods for allergic rhinitis in normal times. This can effectively treat children's asthma and rhinitis at the same time. The above article is some methods and treatments on how to prevent asthma in spring that the editor has compiled for everyone. I hope it will be helpful to you.
