Beware of 6 carcinogens lurking around children

Avoid going to underground garages

Gas pollution is the most serious form of environmental pollution. Experts point out that industrial waste gas, automobile exhaust, tobacco smoke, gases emitted when asphalt roads are heated, and some chemical cleaners are all toxic, and some are even carcinogenic.

Therefore, parents should first avoid letting their children inhale "second-hand smoke"; secondly, they should try to avoid places with high concentrations of automobile exhaust, such as not staying in underground garages for a long time. In addition, private cars, especially new cars, have common pollution problems inside them, so it is recommended that young children avoid riding in new cars as much as possible.

Use less artificial boards in decoration

Indoor environmental pollution may be one of the main risk factors for acute leukemia in children. It can also increase the incidence of asthma in children and reduce children's intelligence. A statistic shows that more than 90% of children with leukemia have families that have renovated their homes within the past six months.

Indoor environmental pollution mainly includes formaldehyde, benzene, toluene, xylene, styrene and some radioactive radon substances. They come from composite panels, paints, coatings, adhesives, floor tiles, etc.

Therefore, when decorating your home, you should first choose qualified decoration materials, use less artificial boards, and don’t use too much of a single material; the furniture in the children’s room should be mainly solid wood. After renovation, ventilate the house for a month before moving in. Before moving in, it is best to find a qualified authority to conduct inspections. After moving in, you can grow plants such as iron trees and spider plants to absorb toxic gases.

No electric blanket

Mobile phones, computers, microwave ovens, etc. all emit a certain degree of radiation, which may cause harm to children's health. For example, do not place televisions or computers in children's rooms, and do not use electric blankets for children. The refrigerator and microwave oven should be as far away from the living room and bedroom as possible, and it is best if they are separated by a wall.

Keep children away from the microwave when it is in use. The back of the computer screen has strong radiation, so don't let your children stand near the screen for a long time. When watching TV, you should be at least 3 meters away from the TV.

Keep plastic products away from hot food

Experts say that while you're wary of plastic baby bottles, don't forget to be careful with other plastic products for children. Before buying, you should observe the triangular recycling symbol on the bottom of the plastic product and look at the number in the triangle. Usually it is numbered 1-7, representing plastic products made of different types of ingredients, most of which are not resistant to high temperatures.

Among them, those coded 5 are mostly used to make microwave lunch boxes and can withstand high temperatures of 130 degrees, but their lids are usually made of transparent plastic coded 7, which is a "dangerous good" used to make baby bottles. They are most afraid of heat and should be avoided from containing hot water, hot food or being heated.

Dry new clothes in the sun for three days before wearing them

The problems with children's clothing mainly focus on excessive formaldehyde and unqualified pH values. Therefore, when choosing children's clothing, don't buy those that have been anti-wrinkle or bleached. It is better to buy solid colors and those without prints, and the patterns should not be too hard.

Smell it first when buying. If there is a pungent smell similar to that found in furniture stores, don't buy it. After buying new clothes, soak them in clean water for 10 minutes, rinse them thoroughly, and then hang them in the sun for 3 days.

Don’t use brightly colored toys

The problem of cadmium and lead in children's toys has always existed. On the one hand, intentional addition of these substances can make plastic objects stronger. On the other hand, metal toys, building blocks painted with colored paints, patterned balloons, books and picture albums, etc., often use spray paint, and some paints contain lead.

Experts point out that lead is one of the environmental toxins currently recognized to affect the development of the central nervous system and can cause damage to multiple organs and systems.

To avoid the problem of excessive lead in toys, first of all, you should make sure to buy toys from regular, reputable shopping malls, look for the 3C certification mark, pay attention to warning signs, and read the appropriate age range indicated on the toy. Don't buy ones with bright colors.

Experts pointed out that based on clinical experience, lead poisoning among children in China is mainly related to industrial pollution and domestic pollution. Parents should also pay attention to relevant aspects.
