Scar repair method for children's face

Scars on children's faces not only affect the aesthetics of the face, but also affect the health of the skin, and may lead to skin hyperplasia or skin infection. Therefore, for scars on children's faces, we can use ginger to wipe the skin to repair the scars, or we can use laser surgery to eliminate the scars. If you choose to surgically remove the scars, you need to pay attention to postoperative skin care, because the skin is more sensitive after surgery.

1. Simple excision and suture method

Simple excision and suture method is suitable for the third type of small and medium-sized facial scars. After the skin scar is removed, the wound is carefully closed with a small needle and fine thread, preferably along the skin grain, leaving only a thin scar line after the operation. Sometimes, fractional scar excision can be used for people with larger scars and tight skin. However, the first and second operations are usually separated by more than half a year.

2. Facial scar excision plus skin grafting

Scars of larger areas cannot be sutured directly after scar excision because these patients do not have much normal skin on their faces. At this time, you can fill in a whole piece of skin in a natural facial area according to the natural shape of the face (forehead, upper and lower eyelids, nose, upper and lower lips and mandible), and decide how many parts of skin to transplant based on the amount of scar removed. There is another method suitable for patients with facial scars covering the entire face, that is, the entire facial scar can be removed at one time; and a whole piece of skin can be transplanted. This can avoid the formation of scars at the connection between the partitioned skin grafts, and the postoperative appearance is better than that of the partitioned skin grafts.

3. Scar repair using flap method

Since the flap contains a large amount of subcutaneous fat tissue, in addition to being used to repair skin defects after facial scar excision, it also has the function of protecting deep tissues. Skin flap transplantation is also a commonly used method for scar repair near some facial organs. For example, defects such as nasal wing defects, ectropion deformity, and corner of mouth deformity all require cosmetic surgery based on skin flap transplantation.

4. Non-surgical treatment of facial scars

For some hypertrophic scars that do not affect facial function, surgical excision is sometimes not necessary, because even after excision, it is very easy to recur and form new hypertrophic scars. In order to soften and flatten scars, the following methods can be used for cosmetic treatment.

Compression therapy People have gradually applied the method of compression to the hyperplasia of scars after burns, and the effect is positive. Generally, after facial scar removal, the surgical incision needs to be pressurized for 6 months to 1 year. In this way, scar hyperplasia can be effectively prevented.

Practice has shown that drug therapy can flatten hypertrophic scars and restore their color to or close to the color of normal facial skin by injecting hormone suspensions such as prednisolone acetate and triamcinolone acetate into the areas of facial scar hyperplasia. But sometimes it takes several injections to achieve the desired effect.

Radiation therapy should be performed for small areas of facial hypertrophic scars or hypertrophic scars after surgical excision and skin grafting. Generally, 4-6 times can achieve good results.
