4-year-old baby with intellectual disability

If a baby has low intelligence during growth, it will actually have a great impact on health, and parents will also feel particularly anxious. Therefore, for the sake of the baby's health, it is still necessary to pay attention to the baby's intellectual development because babies in each period of time have a basic intellectual growth standard. If the standard is not met, the child can be supplemented with relevant energy. So what are the manifestations of low intelligence in a four-year-old baby?

A 4-year-old baby is already a little adult. He has started going to kindergarten and can learn a lot of things. But the situation of each child is different. Some children may be smarter, while others may be slower or even mentally retarded. So what are the symptoms of mental retardation in a 4-year-old baby?

Symptoms of mental retardation in 4-year-old babies

1. Can’t laugh or laugh very late. Normal babies will laugh at 2 months old and can laugh out loud at 4 months old. If a baby only smiles at 3 months old, rarely smiles at 6 months old, or cannot smile at 1 year old, it is a sign of mental retardation.

2. Incomplete development of eye function. Generally speaking, one-month-old babies will use their eyes to pay attention to the surrounding environment, while babies with mental retardation do not pay attention to people or things around them.

3. He reacts poorly to sounds and does not respond to the sounds made by adults nearby. He seems to be particularly "honest". The baby cries less often, sometimes only screams, or cries weakly. The baby is not likely to cry or is difficult to cry in response to external stimuli that could easily cause crying.

4. Chewing is late, feeding is difficult, solid food is not easy to swallow and causes vomiting. Drooling is normal for children under one year old, but if drooling continues after one year old, it is a cause for concern.

5. Clumsy movements. Babies like to play with their hands. They will be able to do so at 3 to 5 months after birth, but it is abnormal if they still cannot play with their hands after 6 months or like to put toys in their mouths at 2 to 3 years old.

6. Lack of concentration, indifference to external things, or even if interested, it is very short-lived and slow to react. Their abilities are relatively low, and their language ability, thinking ability, memory ability, calculation ability, and analytical and comparative ability are all worse than those of children of the same age.

Factors that affect your baby's IQ

1. Children born from distant blood-related marriages. Data shows that the average IQ of children whose parents are both locals is 102.45, the average IQ of children whose parents are from different provinces is 106.17, and the IQ of children born from inter-province marriages is as high as 109.35. It suggests that intermarriage can improve the IQ level of the next generation.

2. Children born to parents during their optimal childbearing period. A sampling result shows that the average IQ of children born to mothers before the age of 23 is 103, while that of those born between the ages of 24 and 28 is as high as 109, but that of children born too late (after the age of 29) is below 105. Therefore, experts recommend that 24 to 29 years old is the best childbearing period for women of childbearing age. As for men, it is better to become a father around the age of 30.

3. Children who grow up on breast milk. Studies have found that children who are breastfed generally have higher IQs, 10 points higher on average than their peers who are fed formula.
